1. Overview

The Capacity Utilization Dashboard provides a graphical overview of resource workload and utilization levels within the production environment.

The dashboard helps planners and production managers:

  • Monitor resource utilization
  • Identify overloaded resources
  • Detect unused capacities
  • Analyze machine, human, and tool workloads
  • Support production balancing and scheduling decisions

The dashboard displays utilization values using visual gauge indicators for quick interpretation.

2. Filter Options

At the top of the screen, several filters are available to customize the displayed information.

Period

Defines the time interval used for utilization calculations.

The period can be freely selected by the user according to the desired planning horizon.

Example:

  • From: 2026.05.01
  • To: 2026.05.31

The system calculates utilization based on operations planned within the selected period.

Resource Type

Defines which resource category should be displayed.

Available options:

  • Human
  • Machine
  • Tool

This allows planners to analyze different resource groups separately.

Show Only Utilization Over 100%

When enabled, the dashboard displays only overloaded resources whose planned utilization exceeds 100%.

This helps quickly identify:

  • Capacity bottlenecks
  • Overbooked machines
  • Critical workload situations
Export

Exports the utilization data into CSV format for reporting and further analysis.

3. Utilization Gauges

Each gauge represents a resource and its utilization level.

Examples:

  • CNC machines
  • Welding stations
  • Laser cutting machines
  • Human resources
  • Tools

Each gauge displays:

  • Resource name
  • Current utilization percentage
  • Capacity status

4. Gauge Color Interpretation

The gauges use color zones to visualize workload levels.

🟢 Green Zone

Low or normal utilization level.

Indicates:

  • Available free capacity
  • Stable workload
  • Low production risk
🟡 Yellow Zone

Medium utilization level.

Indicates:

  • Increasing workload
  • Resource approaching higher capacity usage
🟠 Orange Zone

High utilization level.

Indicates:

  • Heavy resource usage
  • Potential bottlenecks may occur
🔴 Red Zone

Critical utilization level.

Indicates:

  • Resource overload
  • Capacity exceeds optimal planning level
  • Scheduling conflicts may occur

5. Utilization Percentage

The percentage displayed in the center of the gauge represents the calculated utilization level for the selected period.

Examples:

  • 0% = Resource not utilized
  • 50% = Half of available capacity utilized
  • 100% = Full planned capacity
  • Over 100% = Overloaded resource

6. Capacity Planning Usage

The dashboard supports:

  • APS planning analysis
  • Capacity balancing
  • Production optimization
  • Bottleneck detection
  • Workload forecasting
  • Resource planning decisions

Planners can quickly identify

  • Underutilized resources
  • Critical machines
  • Capacity shortages
  • Overloaded production areas

7. Relationship with Scheduling

The displayed utilization values are calculated from:

  • Planned production operations
  • Scheduled work orders
  • Resource assignments
  • Operation durations

Changes in the production schedule automatically affect utilization calculations.

8. Important Notes

  • Utilization values depend on the selected period.
  • Different resource types can be analyzed independently.
  • Overloaded resources may negatively impact delivery performance.
  • The dashboard supports proactive production planning decisions.
  • Exported data can be used for KPI and management reporting.
