1. Overview

The Resource Gantt view provides a graphical overview of production scheduling, resource allocation, and machine utilization over time.

The Gantt chart helps planners and production managers:

  • Visualize production operations
  • Monitor machine and human resource workloads
  • Detect overlaps and bottlenecks
  • Analyze scheduling status
  • Review Frozen Zone operations
  • Monitor delay and planning status

The view supports:

  • Daily, weekly, and monthly planning
  • Multiple resource types
  • Interactive operation details
  • Frozen Zone management
  • Capacity planning visualization

2. Filter and View Options

At the top of the screen, the following filters are available:

Period

Defines the planning horizon displayed in the Gantt chart.

Example:

  • From: 2026.05.01
  • To: 2026.07.31
Resource Type

Filters the displayed resources.

Possible examples:

  • All
  • Machines
  • Human Resources
  • Tools
View

Defines the timeline scale of the Gantt chart.

Possible views:

  • Day
  • Week
  • Month

3. Gantt Structure

The left side of the chart displays:

  • Production orders
  • Assigned resources
  • Machines
  • Human resources

The right side displays:

  • Scheduled operations
  • Duration of operations
  • Timeline positioning
  • Capacity usage

Each horizontal bar represents a scheduled production operation.

4. Operation Information

When moving the mouse over a scheduled operation, the system displays detailed information such as:

  • Production order name
  • Product
  • Quantity
  • Assigned resource
  • Start date and time
  • End date and time
  • Duration
  • Deadline
  • Delay status
  • Frozen Zone status

This allows quick analysis without opening the operation manually.

5. Frozen Zone Explanation

The striped (hatched) operations indicate that the production task is currently inside the Frozen Zone.

The Frozen Zone is a protected planning period where the system does not automatically modify scheduled operations.

This means:

  • The operation is fixed in the schedule
  • Automatic replanning is disabled
  • The planning engine skips these operations during optimization
  • The start and end dates remain unchanged

Operations inside the Frozen Zone are considered stable and released for production execution.

6. How Frozen Zone Works

When an operation has Frozen Zone status:

  • The APS scheduling engine does not move the task
  • Capacity optimization ignores the operation
  • Automatic rescheduling is blocked
  • Production planners must manually remove the Frozen Zone flag if changes are required

This functionality protects short-term production schedules from unexpected automatic modifications.

7. Visual Representation of Frozen Zone

In the Gantt chart:

  • Striped / hatched bars = Frozen Zone active
  • Normal solid bars = Fully schedulable operations

The Frozen Zone status is also visible in the tooltip information of the operation.

8. Why Frozen Zone is Important

The Frozen Zone helps:

  • Stabilize production planning
  • Protect released production orders
  • Prevent unnecessary schedule changes
  • Improve shop floor reliability
  • Ensure production continuity
  • Reduce planning instability

This is especially important for:

  • Near-term production
  • Critical manufacturing operations
  • Operations already in progress
  • Customer-critical orders

9. Additional Planning Features

The Resource Gantt also supports:

  • Capacity utilization analysis
  • Delay visualization
  • Operation sequencing
  • Resource load balancing
  • Downtime analysis
  • OEE-related planning review

10. Important Notes

  • Operations outside the Frozen Zone can still be optimized automatically.
  • Frozen Zone operations require manual intervention for rescheduling.
  • The planning engine respects Frozen Zone restrictions during every scheduling run.
  • Frozen Zone status improves production stability and execution reliability.
