Omega MES October Updates: Clearer Planning and Better Capacity Management

Omega MES’s October updates make everyday production planning more transparent. New settings, a human capacity calendar, a more detailed bill of materials view, and expanded filtering options support the work of production planners and managers.

1. New options in “Other Settings”

The “Other Settings” menu now includes options for managing automatic logout and controlling whether the next operation can be recorded before the preceding technological step or assembly component is complete.

Settings panel showing tabs (Quantity, Language, Load, Validity, Working Days, Scheduling, Other settings) and two toggles: Automatic logout and Mandatory adherence to technological sequence with descriptions.

How does this help a company?
Automatic logout settings help companies manage user access more consistently. The operation sequence control can reduce the risk of production moving ahead out of sequence. This helps production processes follow the operating rules defined by the company.

2. Human capacity calendar

The human capacity calendar allows planners to take employees’ working days and shift schedules into account. Production operations can therefore be scheduled based on available workforce capacity as well as machine availability.

How does this help a company?
Planners can get a more realistic view of when the required workforce is available. This supports better informed due date planning and more balanced use of resources. It can also help prevent schedules that do not reflect employees’ actual working patterns.

3. Expand the BOM up to 10 levels in scheduled production orders

The bill of materials (BOM) can now be expanded up to ten levels, including in scheduled production orders. Users can review the subassemblies and components beneath the finished product in greater detail.

How does this help a company?
Multi-level product structures become easier to review, supporting production preparation and a clearer understanding of material requirements. With the detailed BOM view also available for scheduled production, users can more easily see which components and subassemblies are behind a production plan.

5. Order and Remaining Quantities at a Glance

The production order list displays the original order quantity and the remaining quantity side by side. Users can see how much was ordered and how much is still outstanding for each production order.

How does this help a company?
This makes it easier to monitor production progress, identify unfinished work, and decide which orders need attention. Users can check the key quantities directly in the list without opening each order individually.

4. More filtering options in work order entry

Additional filtering criteria are now available in the work order entry interface, helping users search production tasks and find the relevant work more quickly.

Work Registration panel with filters for Machine Resource and Human Resource set to All, date range 2026-10-12 to 2026-11-11, and quick-period buttons (Today, Current Week, Next 7 Days, Next 30 Days).

How does this help a company?
When work lists grow, users can narrow down the displayed items more quickly. This means less time spent searching, faster orientation, and a smoother work order entry process in day-to-day production.

6. Plan–Fact Analysis Dashboard

The Plan–Fact Analysis dashboard compares planned and reported production times. Users can filter the data by production order, product, operation, machine, worker, and status, then view the results by machine or operation. Summary figures and a detailed table show planned time, actual time, and the difference. The data can be printed as a PDF report or exported in XLSX format.

How does this help a company?
The dashboard helps users identify differences between planned and actual production times and see where they occur. Interactive filters make it easier to focus on specific production data, while PDF printing and XLSX export support reporting, sharing, and further analysis.

7. Related Production Orders

Users can open the production orders related to a machine or operation directly from the analysis. The detail view lists each order’s planned time, actual time, and status, with an option to open an order in a new window.

How does this help a company?
This makes it easier to investigate a time difference and identify the production orders behind it. Users can move from a high-level overview to the relevant order details without searching for each order separately.

Updates that support daily production management

The October updates support different parts of production management: settings help control workflows, the capacity calendar helps account for workforce availability, the detailed BOM view makes product structures easier to review, and expanded filtering helps users find the work they need.
Together, these improvements can make planning clearer and daily production management easier to handle.
